Weeks Passed By
Weeks passed, and we thought that this was all over. But as it turns out... it wasn't. Satruday the 24th went by for me very quickly in a blur of fun and exhaustion. The previous night, I had Magic and game night at HOWZ and we ended up staying up until about 3:30am to play games. I ended up staying up talking to my friend Jeremy until about 4:30am.
I woke up about 5 hours later for the Innistrad Magic Pre-release, where I went 2-3. It was okay, because I made a couple new friends and cracked some valuable cards to make my money back. AWESOME. I went home after grabbing a Zonie and passing out for a while.
I end up going to my friend's bonfire that night and I leave early to spend some time with my girlfriend before she falls asleep. I stay up and chat with Rob for a bit before going to bed.
Football Sunday
I wake up to a txt from my girlfriend. She tells me to "check your cars" because she had a flat tire. I quickly put on my clothes and head out to my driveway to investigate. Jason was in the kitchen and I told him what I was doing. He came outside with me to investigate. Surveying the cars, mine had already been hit and nothing new happened to it. Nothing happened to Justin's car- possibly because it already has this huge dent on the back trunk of the car. But my girlfriend's tire had been flattened, Jason's car was both tire flattened and keyed. Hell no. I went back inside and called the police. We were only reporting vandalism, so it took them a few hours to get to us (I assume that other emergencies trump vandalism reports).
Jason and I watched the game on the downstairs TV while waiting for the police. It was the Bills VS Patriots. Around the third quarter, an officer showed up and Jason and I talked to him. We showed him our cars. Told him about our story from the last time I had to call the police. He wasn't directly involved, but apparently he had heard about it down at the police station. After he finished speaking with us, he placed a call into the station for a tech to take pictures of all of our vehicles. Jason and I went inside. He would hang around the neighborhood until the tech came, so he spoke with all the neighbors to see if they saw anything. He didn't want to talk to "The Todd" because he didn't want to set him off. After talking with all the neighbors, he reported back to us.
"The Todd" and the Officer
Roughly at that time, Rob came home with Julia. The officer spoke with Rob for a while and then he came in. Apparently he came in because "The Todd" had come walking towards the officer with a framed picture of something and he said something to the effect of "Hey officer. I want to give you this gift." From what Rob tells us, it seemed to be a picture of some professional athelete. They were out there for a while and Jason, Rob, Julia and I talked about how crazy "The Todd" is. Julia had also taken it upon herself to try and spread the word for him to only be known as "The Todd" - and nothing else. We all split and did things until the tech came and took pictures and the officer came back to tell us he was done. He asked what he could do for us. I wanted revenge, but I didn't let him know that. Jason basically just wanted a police report so that his insurance could get it. I asked if there was anything we could do to protect ourselves legally. Order of Protections are easily given out to family members that might provide trouble- but since there's no relationship between any of us and "The Todd", apparently it'd be difficult. It sucks that he just so happens to live near us.
The Rest of the Day
At the end of the day, the total cumulative counts of damage was 4 cars keyed and 2 cars who had the air let out of a tire.
I had to help Jason change his tire to be his spare. He had changed a tire before and I hadn't- but I helped him nonetheless. We figured it out. It wasn't that hard.
I hung out with Sarah that evening. Basically she won't ever drive her car herself over to HOWZ again. I don't blame her. So I'm stuck with picking her up and dropping her off. Which I don't mind. I just wish it didn't have to be this way.
At least it was a pretty epic football game if I do say so myself.
Post-Analysis
It has been a few weeks since the incident above. Since then, I've pulled out my weapons (all non-automated; just a few sticks and one bladed weapon). I was at dinner at Applebees one night and I was telling Liz (whom was working) about this incident and about pulling out the weapons to be ready. She said, "It's stupid that you even have to do that." Now for clarification, I am not afraid of "The Todd". But I won't stand by and let him hurt people, if it came down to it. But the way I see it- he's just a big bully trying to spoil all the fun.
I was wrestling over the idea about not having a party- but I'm convinced. I'm having a Halloween party. I will NOT let someone mess with my fun. However, I have decided to notify people late (probably just to stem the flow of numbers of party people) and such. I won't lie, there are risks if anyone comes over and even parks. I'd just say avoid parking in front of houses 78 and 76 ("The Todd"'s house).
Someone Else's "The Todd" Incident
Last weekend, Rob and I saw about 4 police cruisers in front of the neighbor's across the street's house. WTF!? FOUR!?
We watched for a little bit as they then moved down to the house in which "The Todd" resided. After some time, they all drove away (it is unknown what happened or if they took him away). None of us know. But it is definitely something to be wary of. |

For the curious, here is the detailed explanation. I didn't just want to post this anywhere. I figured my very un-used LJ was the best place to put this kind of post. Please excuse the tone if it comes off as complaing, but rest assured, I just want to tell the story and get a record of everything while I still remember accurately.
It all started several weeks ago, when there was a party at HOWZ. It was not a party for me, but rather, a triple birthday party for my friends Sara, Jason and Ian (all in September). It also became the last night you could really see Jay before he moved away from Rochester. The party was going fine and it looked like it would be a great night. But from what I've learned... the new catchphrase around the neighborhood is that "Nothing good happens after two-thirty in the morning."
The People
Sara was a relatively new friend whom I had offered the use of HOWZ for her birthday party. She was looking for a place to have her party and at first wanted to have it at her friend's place. However, since location is everything, and HOWZ has an ever increasingly good reputation, she decided that it was the place to have a party. She's a social girl, likes to have fun and meet new people. Definitely someone who would enjoy a HOWZ party.
The newest HOWZ member, Jason, also had a birthday. I met him in the ranks of my company workplace and he moved into HOWZ when he had the desire to move out of his parents' house. He's an intelligent, but very shy individual. He drives a nice Mitsubishi Eclipse.
I remembered that there was a multi-birthday party discussion with Sara and Ian on one of my many Wednesday night dinners (at Applebees I believe) for September. So I contacted Ian to see if he wanted to make it a triple birthday bonanza. Of course he accepted. Ian is a light-hearted, funny guy... who can only be described as... interestingly whimsical in his mannerisms.
That was the birthday trio.
The weekend before this party was to occur, I went to Jay's "going away" party. Where I convinced him to stay at HOWZ for an extra week, just so he could enjoy the party.
Awesome.
The Party
Party night was fun. The hours passed with many old friends and new faces to enjoy the festivities. Midnight rolled around and the patry crowd settled to be the people who were partying heartily. Oddly enough, this was a much more social group of people than I thought it would be- I actually felt bad for the pong table at one point it was so barren of players. I had received a few requests from people to spend the night- and of course, as a good host, I said "yes" because I don't want anybody driving home drunk.
Cut to the Chase
Around 2:45am, two "gentlemen" walk in through the front door. I later find out their names are Todd and Mike. I was horrifically oblivious to their entrance into the HOWZ. It was not until someone ran downstairs to interrupt my conversation that I realized how concerned some people really were. Todd had come in bearing a beer and smoking a cigarette. I ended up telling him that smoking in the house is not allowed and usher him into the garage (because it doesn't seem like he will go away). Each and every single guest in the HOWZ seriously thinks one of two things A) this guy is trouble or B) this guy is going to be hilarious. Maybe a combination of both.
Todd is a short, jacked up, very muscular kind of guy. He's the type of guy that I look at and think "Damn, he can probably snap me in half in a second."
Mike, is a tall and but very proportioned individual, who came over with Todd, but as I will later find out... really has no association with Todd at all.
They spend some time mingling with individuals in the HOWZ- and Mike seems like a chill guy. He's just laid back, likes talking with people and chilling to have a good time.
Todd eventually got to talking with the girls at the party... uh oh. Bad news. He's trying to charm the birthday girl Sara- and I can tell in her facial expressions that she's trying very hard to still put on a smile, but she feel threatened. Several people came over to me and said, "She doesn't go anywhere with that guy," pointing to Todd. I acknowledged the severity of the issue when Todd started rambling on about things where he tries to personify himself as a nice guy, "I just saw some cars parked in front of my house and I just wanted to come over to see what was going on."
The next 20 minutes degenerates into him wanting to give Sara a birthday gift, a show and tell item (which really just looked like a box shaped metallic casing for some piece of electronic; but he claimed it was "top secret"... I very much doubt that), and a golf club (also allegedly a show and tell item).
Todd's language was somewhat simple and crude- using volume and angry scowls and threats to make everyone quiet down to listen to his "stories". If they are anywhere true, he may be deranged because of the death of his old girlfriend in a fire many years ago... how much he misses his mother. This is the part where I have to give Jay a great many props. While he engaged Todd directly during this whole emotional outburst, I quickly figured out what the heck to do. First thought was... "make sure everyone is all right," second thought was... "how do I get this guy out of here?"
While I brainstormed my an action plan, I briefly pondered how much... I really didn't want this happening at a party in my HOWZ. I mean... this is why the number one rule at parties is "No Drama". Todd had moved to a "new audience" downstairs. He was giving an irritating speech about how much he loves America and how he should run for office. His tag lines were "In Todd we trust," and "Todd bless America." Sure it sounds funny, and some people thought it was, but I knew this guy was a nutcase.
The Freak Coincidence and a Fight
It was at this time that Tanios walked through the door. He was at the party earlier and had left, but came back in a strange moment to look at Mike and say questioningly, "Mike???"
"Tanios!?"
They obviously knew each other from the past. But I didn't get into many details at this point.
At this point, Todd was done with the speech and his acquaintance Mike was trying to goad him out the door, because he saw how ridiculous this guy was acting.
Mike beckons him, "C'mon let's go!"
He starts pulling Todd closer to the door and Todd yells, "No. Shut the fuck up or I'm gonna kick your ass!"
Todd goes on a slightly longer diatribe and Mike yells back mockingly. Todd responds with a very strong slap in Mike's face. You could hear the sounds that the slap made of a hand on a face. The hit seemed to set off something in Mike. One punch followed by a struggle with a headlock out the front door. A bunch of the guys rush outside after them to try and break it up, but not before several more punches were exchanged. It seems like Todd took the better part of many hits without inflicting the same amount of damage on Mike. His white shirt was bloodied and his nose was bleeding profusely.
The After After Party
Some talk passed and the situation ended up being Todd staying outside, Mike coming inside and a bunch of guys in between. Some of the guests (I'm really glad someone decided to do it), escorted Todd back to his house. Todd trudged back for his stuff... we didn't hand him the club, but one of the guests took it back over to him.
Everything had calmed down for a while, and I sent as many people home as I could. We finally got a chance to talk to Mike. Apparently, he and Tanios had been friends for a while. We found out that apparently, Mike just met Todd earlier that night at a bar and decided to go hang out at Todd's house to play pool after the bar closed (presumably at 2am).
There were about a dozen people left in the HOWZ. Half of them had already gone to sleep.We seriously thought everything was over...
Phone Call
*THUMP* *THUMP* *THUMP* *THUMP* *THUMP* *THUMP*
There was a loud thumping on the front door. It was Todd. He had also brought his dog (the dog didn't look very threatening).
"Open the door!"
I sure as hell wasn't going to open the door. I yelled back through, "What do you want?"
"I just want to talk to my friend who came with me tonight."
I looked back over at Mike and asked if he wanted to come back over to the door and just talk to him through the door.
Obviously... no.
Todd was talking about threatening to call the police. He was obviously drunk, but were his mental faculties working? I was wondering how he would have convinced the police to be on his side. I called 911 and we waited for the police to come.
The Police
They came. They talked to Todd, escorted him back to his place. They came back to HOWZ, and we talked. They talked to Todd again. It was... a fiasco. We explained what happened and they left.
We stayed and watched as they hung around Todd's house for a while.
Brad stuck around and I taught him how to play Dominion.
Around 6am, sunrise came around and Brad was sober enough to drive home.
I was tired, but the frustration and anger of calling the police on to a party that I hosted was... aggravating. The last time it happened was years ago and I wished to forget all about it. Here I was being reminded of it again.
I couldn't fall asleep right away. I was feeling a little lonely. A single guy and a single girl leftover from the party snuggled up to each other. My girlfriend had gone home earlier in the night. I can't say that I would have rather had her around during the drama. But I guess I would have liked to cuddle up with someone.
I ended up cleaning up as much as I could in an hour (which was a decent amount), took a shower and then went to my room to pass out at around 7.
The Morning After
I woke up and went to Sarah's. I didn't realize that there was anything wrong with my car until I got to her house and she gasped. Let's just say it was keyed... angrily.
I went home later and found out that Jay's car was also keyed. Not as angrily. But keyed as well. I'm glad that the damage was minimal.
I thought about calling the police to report but I was stressed out and I didn't technically have any proof.
I was obviously pissed, and maybe a little depressed the next few days passed.
But I decided to let it be.
Weeks Passed By
Weeks passed, and we thought that this was all over. But as it turns out... it wasn't.

Dream: Staying at a community house where everyone was staying at. We were all dressed in some sort of uniform or costume (unrecognizable design/insignia, but it was definitely non-military).At some point I run to the bathroom and have a really long pee. I get out and I see the woman of my dreams* (figuratively, literally, you name it) and we have a little chat.
"Do you want to... go in the room?" I ask her hesitatingly.
She gives me a look and finally nods with eagerness. We hold hands and we enter the room.
It seems to be a community room, with about 6+ beds. One of the other individuals was rustling around, but quickly left the room as soon as we entered.
I stared into my loved one's eyes and hold her tight. She is very beautiful and looks back at me with those eyes that I longed to see looking back at me.
I have all this emotional/romantic desire built up... and then I wake up.
Dream: Running around in a futuristic city-like Chinatown, with close/tight car maneuvers and parking spaces. People can teleport from location to location using rubbery teleportation tubes (looks like those balls with rubbery arms coming out, but works like Starcraft nydus canals without the creep).
I get out of a parking spot and I evade a couple crazy drivers, take a couple tight city turns in true Initial D style. From there, I end up being chased in a car, then on foot, through teleportation tubes.
Dream: Bathrooms have a secret connection to other bathrooms in the world. When one person (in the dream, I did) discovers that writing on the tiled bathroom walls can get you seemingly random messages from other bathroom walls. I showed a couple girls what I had discovered and they were completely freaked out. Would you be? Then I "exit" the dream by entering a teleportation tube from the previous dream.
*It's actually someone I know.

At the age of 18, being a resident of NH and not being present in the state to register at an opportune time, I did not vote in the 2004 presidential election. New Hampshire is stupid because tons of other states make it ridiculously easy to register to vote ONLINE. New Hampshire requires that you register in person at your town hall. I wasn't aware of it at the time, and when I figured it out in October of 2004, it was too late for absentee ballots (which need to be mailed out a month ahead of time).
I'll be proud to say that I'll be voting for the first time this year (finally). :-D
I never really cared about politics... but this year, I might just have to. In recent years, more issues directly affect me- now that I am older and not just a student anymore. That and things like the economy, technological issues (video games as a legitimate media, internet neutrality, etc...) and a slew of other unmentionable things (because of scope) now matter.
Now, not to put a mockery on this election- but really, this year's election is something else. Look on the bright side, I can now tell my future children that my first vote in a presidential election was in that one with the women and the black man. Very descriptive. :-D
All right, next election, I want to see an Asian man running for US President (but I'd settle for a Kenyan, 400 babies and Anna Kournikova).
